Alistair Henry, Director of AHC Solicitors Limited, is a leading proactive property and planning solicitor with over 25 years' high-level experience, having been a Partner in leading City of London law firms before establishing AHC solicitors in 2008.
Alistair is a very high-calibre transactional lawyer and dealmaker with extensive experience and expertise in making transactions work successfully and solving problems. In addition he is a Solicitor-Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience. This means he can appear as an advocate in all courts in the U.K (and the highest courts in the European Union) in any legal proceedings. These skills and experience make him uniquely well placed to provide a comprehensive legal service on all matters involving property and planning law.
After excelling academically, having gained a BA (Hons) in Law at Durham University (placed second in his year) and Honours in the Law Society Finals at the College of Law, Alistair qualified as a solicitor in the City of London with a top-six firm in 1990, where he spent seven very successful years post-qualification acting on major complex development and investment projects, such as the 3 million square feet Broadgate development (Liverpool Street) and 99 Bishopsgate, both in the City of London.
In 1998 he was called to the Bar as a barrister of the Inner Temple and practised as a barrister from leading commercial Chancery chambers in Lincoln's Inn (Old Square) at a high level of seniority (equivalent to 1989 call) appearing in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal.
Alistair subsequently returned to the City and became a Partner in a prominent City specialist commercial property and planning law firm (where he was part of the team which was runner-up Property Team of the Year in the Lawyer Awards in 2002) working on planning and property elements of substantial office, retail and leisure developments and investment transactions (including Tower 42 and numerous limited partnerships).
Throughout his career, he has advised a wide variety of clients on many types of property and planning-related projects and commercial transactions and disputes in all economic sectors, including:
- FTSE 100 listed property companies (Hammerson, British Land and Land Securities)
- Leading developers (e.g. Stanhope, Chelsfield, Greycoat)
- Banks and financial institutions (e.g. Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Coutts)
- Major corporates (e.g. Lafarge, Redland, BET)
- Public bodies (e.g. national charities, NHS trusts on private finance initiatives, Royal National Theatre)
